Loss Prevention Agents and Plain Clothes security officers may be used for a variety of different situations and circumstances such as:

Retail Stores
Loss Prevention Agents may be used to blend in with regular shoppers and help identify shoplifters and other problems.

Warehouses
Loss Prevention Agents may be used to break up employee theft rings in warehouses and retail outlets. The plain clothes officer would be used to go "undercover" and gain knowledge of the thefts.

Office Buildings
Plain Clothes security may be used to provide an extremely professional look. The "plain" clothes may consist of a sports coat, dress shirt and dress slacks.

Any other situation where low visibility or no visibility security is needed.
