| Your Safety- Indentify Threats |
With
the economy in the worst recession in decades, it is important for our
personnel to be aware of potential threats. Unfortunately, as
unemployment rates continue to increase so will crime rates. Increased
unemployment tends to lead to increased crime especially in the
areas of petty theft, shoplifting, burglary, robbery and assault with
intent to commit theft against individuals. Security personnel need to
use extra vigilance to ensure their safety, the safety of our customers
and their employees.
In efforts to prevent injury or harm to
your person, it is important you maintain extra vigilance at all time.
Below are some tips on what you can do to remain safe at your site
while at the same time assist in deterring threats:
- Lighting
– make sure all lighting is in working order and that sufficient
lighting is provided in all areas, especially outside areas such as
walkways, parking lots, etc. In public areas make sure lights turn on
prior to darkness and off after sunrise. Notify the customer or your
local branch office of any poor lit areas or malfunctioning lighting.
- Blind
Spots – look out for blind spots that may entice criminal activity.
Report these blind sights immediately in your Daily Activity Report, to
a customer manager on duty, or the local Brownstone Security Branch.
- Locks
and Access control – ensure all locks and other access control devices
are in good working order and are properly maintained.
- Phones
and communications – ensure all phones and means of communication are
in good working order so that in case of emergency there will be no
delay in communications.
These
are just a few areas that you check and report on to ensure that they
not only minimize their liabilities but also provide the appropriate
level of security and safety. Please ensure to report any potential
threats immediately to your supervisor or local office. Your safety is
our priority.
